I believe the accepted method is still the vigorous side-to-side motion followed by enthusiastic clapping of the erasers. Then if you still haven't had your ear tweaked and been sent to the corner, quickly run your hand along the chalk tray and make as many hand prints as possible on the board.

You were *obviously* one of those lucky kids that I was insanely jealous of - I NEVER had chalkboard cleaning duty!
